Sketch Notes- James Chapter 3

My CARE group at church is going through a series on the book of James. The book of James has been one of my favorite books for years.. Ever since, as a teenager, I was challenged to memorize all five chapters. The reward was what any teenager’s parents would love- free week at summer camp! I spent any free time I had reciting the verses in my head each day. Whether I was on the school bus, in gym class, or tearing myself away from social media in order to practice… Whatever it took, I did it! And in the end…I succeeded!

As fun and exciting as it was to win a free trip to camp, what was more rewarding were the lessons learned from five small chapters of the Bible: Faith without deeds is dead, be quick to listen, slow to speak, treat each other as equals, be cautious with your words, rejoice in times of trouble, and the list just goes on and on! For a fifteen year old, the verses provided a great lesson in ethics, personal and spiritual growth. As a mom of a one year old, I hope that I can someday instill these lessons in his heart and mind.

I will be leading my CARE group tomorrow night at our weekly meeting. This week, I will be discussing James chapter 3. Since I’m a sketch note artist, I figured I would share that with my group this week. I re-created the whole chapter in sketch note format, and included a few questions for discussion at the end. Here’s an early bird, sneak peek at the notes! Let me know what you guys think.
